If you are a country music fan, then you know that Blake Shelton is the real deal. Ever since he released his first single - which un-coincidentally reached number one - Shelton has consistently topped the country charts. He was asked to be one of four judges on NBC's The Voice, and, as a result, was launched into super stardom.
He performed with his top finisher this season, Lauren Dunski, on the finale of the show which aired in late May. They performed a rendition of Hank Williams' 1988 classic "Tear On My Beer," giving it a 2017 upgrade while simultaneously maintaining the Williams' twang.
Jeez Louise. This song is "lit," as the kids these days would say. Shelton and Dunski harmonize perfectly on the chorus and absolutely kill their individual verses. I have cold chills just thinking about it as I write this.
For the entirety of this season of The Voice, Dunski has delivered top-notch vocals that will most definitely make her country music's newest star. Although she did not take home the final trophy, she has made an impression on all who have heard her sing.
For those of you who have not heard her vocals or know who she is, the above video will give you quite the lovely surprise. Dunski hits every note and does so with a smile and fingers strumming her acoustic guitar.
There is no doubt in my mind that Dunski will make her way to the top of the country radio charts just like other Blake Shelton mentee's Cassadee Pope and RaeLynn. In fact, I cannot wait for her album to come out in the inevitable future.
Check out her latest single "Deja Vu" if you really want to have cold chills. That song has been on repeat for the past week, and I am not ashamed to tell you that I tear up with each listen. YES, IT IS THAT GOOD.
Without Blake Shelton, there is no way that Dunski could have achieved this level of success on her own. The Voice was just her first chapter, and I am sure that Mr. Shelton will be with her every step of the way as her country career flourishes.
